Privacy notice
Last updated 26 August 2026
We sell an instrument, not an audience. This notice describes every category of personal data we hold, why we hold it, and how to make us stop. It is written in plain language on purpose.
01Who we are
OptiBreath operates optibreath.space and the OptiBreath instrument and applications. For the purposes of the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, we are the data controller for the personal data described here.
Questions, requests and complaints all go to hello@optibreath.space, and a person answers them.
02What we collect from this website
If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address and the configuration page you came from. That is the whole record — no name, no address, no payment details, because none of those are needed to email you when there is something to buy. We use it to hold your founding place and to contact you about availability. The lawful basis is steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
If you request a team pilot, we additionally collect your organisation, an approximate headcount, and whatever you write in the message field. We use it to answer you. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry.
If you tick the box asking for updates, we use your email for that purpose until you unsubscribe, on the basis of your consent. Every email carries a working one-click unsubscribe link.
Our servers log the usual technical request data — IP address, user agent, referring page — for security and abuse prevention, on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the service available. These logs are retained for 30 days.
03What the instrument collects
Nothing leaves the device unless you connect it to an account. Out of the box, every measurement is stored locally on the unit and never transmitted anywhere. This is the default state, not a setting you have to find.
If you enable cloud sync, environmental measurements — concentrations, temperature, humidity, pressure, light — are stored against your account in the European Union. These are readings about a room. They are not readings about a person, and we do not attempt to derive anything about your health from them.
We do not sell, rent, broker or share measurement data with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use it to build a profile of you. Anonymous benchmarking against comparable spaces is opt-in and aggregated so that no individual space is identifiable.
04Analytics and cookies
This website sets no advertising cookies and runs no cross-site tracking. We do not embed third-party social or advertising pixels.
Where we measure aggregate traffic, we do so with a privacy-preserving analytics tool that stores no cookies and collects no cross-site identifiers, so no consent banner is required and none is shown.
05Who else sees your data
Processors acting on our instructions only: our hosting provider, our email delivery provider, our payment processor when a payment is taken, and our fulfilment and shipping partners when a unit is dispatched. Each is bound by a data processing agreement and may only use the data to provide their service to us.
We will disclose data where we are legally required to. If we ever receive such a request we will tell you, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so.
06How long we keep it
Waitlist entries: until you leave the list or we close the programme, whichever comes first. Order records, once units are actually sold: seven years from the transaction, because tax law requires it.
Pilot enquiries that do not become customers: 24 months, then deleted.
Marketing consent records: until you unsubscribe, plus a minimal suppression record so we do not accidentally email you again.
Cloud measurement data: until you delete it or close your account, whichever comes first. Closing the account deletes it within 30 days.
07Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to processing based on legitimate interests, withdraw consent at any time, and ask for your data in a portable format. There is a single screen in the app that exports everything and a single screen that deletes the account and its data.
To exercise any of these by email, write to hello@optibreath.space. We respond within 30 days and we do not charge a fee. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to your national data protection authority.
08Changes
If we change this notice in a way that materially affects you, we will email everyone on our list rather than quietly updating the date at the top. The current version always states when it was last changed.
